ALEXIS AND DAVID

It was a hot sultry late spring night at Mountfair Vineyards and the guests at David and Alexis's wedding were having a fabulous time! I know because not only did I make the cupcakes, I stayed on with Harvest Moon Catering and helped cook the whole meal!

I just love watching people celebrate love.

For the cupcakes, they chose three varieties. 

Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Icing

Red Velvet, some with Cream Cheese Icing and some with Chocolate Ganache

Lemon, some with Espresso Buttercream and some with Chocolate Buttercream

DEENA

 

Deena and Ben came to me with some special requests. Ben has had many food allergies since he was a kid. I was happy to work with their needs and we had some gorgeous, delicious results.

Not to mentions that they were really fun to work with.

The tiered cake was a Dark Chocolate Dairy and Egg Free cake filled with Triple Cream and iced with Cream Cheese Icing.

 

They also served slices from a sheet cake composed of Vanilla Chiffon Layers filled with Triple Cream and Iced with Lemon Cream Cheese Icing. All were served with berries on the side.

ALEXANDRA B.

The best part of what I do is getting to meet fabulous people all the time. One day, I received a phone call from a man with a fantastic accent (Australian, of course!). He was looking for great local lamb to have while he and his family were visiting for 6 weeks. I may have mentioned before that we raise lamb and were very glad we had some to offer him. When he came to pick up the lamb, I was in the middle of baking, and offered him lots of tastes that I had around. He decided that I must make his daughter's birthday and also provide my caramel apples for the party. When I saw that her desire was a "bat cave cake" for her Halloween birthday, I knew I was in for some fun. The cake was Chocolate Chiffon Layers filled with Pumpkin Mousse and iced with Vanilla Buttercream. 

The bats are my favorite part and are made from modeling chocolate.

PS- They loved the cake, caramel apples and especially the lamb!

SHARIFA

Sharifa is a lady who I have long since admired. I was honored to be part of her garden wedding when she married a man she fell in love with as a young woman and then reconnected with many years later.

Ahhh....Romance.

BRIANA

Afternoon shadows fall on this simply classic cake at King Family Vineyards. Last autumn, I was fortunate enough to be part of  and make this cake for the Free Wedding Project.

The white Frangelico Buttercream is hiding Dark Chocolate Sour Cream Layers filled with Raspberry Curd.

JO AND ADAM

Adam is the son of a close friend of mine, Jo. When she told me the incredible story of how he proposed to his love by taking her on a kayak trip down river and then stopped on an island where he had already placed a large stone painstaking carved with his proposal, I knew I wanted to make a cake for her bridal shower that celebrated that moment!
What a lucky lady.

ASHLEY

Ashley and Eric were married at the breathtaking Castle Hill Cidery. Their autumn wedding day was perfect and the use of red and purple was stunning. 

Their cake was Chocolate Chiffon Layers filled with Raspberry Curd and iced with Mocha Buttercream. 

They also had a sheet cake to be cut in the back that was Vanilla Butter Cake filled with Fresh Pumpkin Mousse and iced with White Chocolate Buttercream.

The best part was getting to work closely with Mary Murray, mother of the groom, who worked with me to design my logo and brochures-which I love! 

She is a fabulous graphic designer and a talented painter as well.

Thank you, Mary, for giving Cakes by Rachel its look and many blessings to Eric and Ashley on your life together.

MARTHA S.

I love weddings at Swannanoa Mansion! Martha and Jason had their wedding there in April. Both work at a local vineyard, so we incorporated this with their  "Boardwalk Empire" feel wedding to create this grapevine cake.

Martha chose the "Martha" cake. Almond Sponge Layers moistened with Frangelico, filled with Chocolate Ganache and Mascarpone Cream and iced with Maple Buttercream.

And this topper was just perfect!
