This cake ranks very high in the list of best tasting cakes I have ever made!
Citrus Chiffon Layers filled with Orange Curd Mascarpone Cream and Fresh Strawberries, iced with Grand Marnier Buttercream. Pure Strawberry Cream-sicle heaven!
If you are getting married in the mid summer and want a refreshing, evocative dreamy cake, you may want to consider the "Allison".
I confess, I made an extra cake for my family while I was making it. There was silence at the table, always a good sign. I can't wait for the next opportunity to make it.
I should mention that Allison is an accomplished pastry chef and we worked together to come up with this combination. She has beautiful vision!
Saana and Marko's textured and ribbon-ed love bird cake was Lemon Chiffon Layers filled with Triple Cream, Fresh Blueberries, Strawberries and Raspberries, iced with White Chocolate Buttercream.
Very refreshing for a hot July day.
Marko loved the "Andy" combination of Chocolate Sour Cream Layers filled with Coconut Bourbon Pecan Icing, so we did it for his groom's cake. It is my husband's favorite also!
First off, I should admit that this is not the best picture I have of this cake.
I just can't pass the opportunity to use a picture of one of my cakes with a mulch pile in the background!
I have many passions in my life and mulch is in the top three with cakes and sheep. I just don't feel right if there is not a pile of mulch in my life. My husband is rolling his eyes in agreement.
Heidi and Randy's wedding was on their farm, next to their garden and that luscious mulch pile!
In keeping with the farm spirit, they chose Almond Layers moistened with Amaretto, filled with Local Strawberries and Triple Cream. They also loved the Raspberry Curd at their tasting so we also did the middle tier filled with it.
Flowers were from the garden of Foxy Morgan.
Another beautiful wedding at King Family Vineyard.
When I first met Elsie and Adam at our tasting, I knew right away that they are a couple who knows how to have fun. They brought spirit this to their wedding cake choice and topper!
For their flavors, they chose Chocolate Sour Cream Layers filled with Raspberry Curd and Almond Layers filled with Bourbon Chocolate Mousse all iced with White Chocolate Buttercream.
Yum!
I am very honored to be part of every wedding for which I am asked to be a vendor.
But, when I delivered the cakes for this wedding, and I saw the incredible vision Erin created, my mouth hung open for a while. This time I was part of something very special.
Here cake flavors were simple and perfect. Vanilla Chiffon and Sour Cream Layers filled with Triple Cream and Strawberries, and iced with White Chocolate Buttercream.
The pictures of this wedding do not even due it justice, but take a look, everything that is teal, Erin painted herself, even the plates. http://www.borrowedandblue.com/charlottesville/weddings/erin-baylor
Kari and Adam were married right here in Crozet at King Family Vineyard.
Their choice was a vegan cake. So we made Vegan Chocolate and Vegan Vanilla cakes and filled them with Strawberry Jam from Jams According to Daniel.
If you haven't tried his jams, you just have too! He uses all local fruit and makes them without pectin so the flavor is so concentrated and pure. I admit, I no longer make my own jams very often since his are so amazing!
The flowers were provided by Hedge and the cake sits on a piece of Virginia Bluestone.
Also I want to mention my tasting with Kari, Adam and their parents. We had such a great time at Greenhouse Coffee eating cake, drinking coffee and talking, I felt like one of the family. Then they all set off full of cake and smiling to King Family for a wine tasting. I was very proud at that moment to be a part of the fabric of Crozet and to be part of this wedding.
Thank you to the whole family.
Deena and Ben came to me with some special requests. Ben has had many food allergies since he was a kid. I was happy to work with their needs and we had some gorgeous, delicious results.
Not to mentions that they were really fun to work with.
The tiered cake was a Dark Chocolate Dairy and Egg Free cake filled with Triple Cream and iced with Cream Cheese Icing.
They also served slices from a sheet cake composed of Vanilla Chiffon Layers filled with Triple Cream and Iced with Lemon Cream Cheese Icing. All were served with berries on the side.
Tonquise and Adam are quite possibly the most beautiful couple I have ever met. One of the reasons that I love what I do is because I am able to be a small part of people's lives at a very special time. Even though Tonquise and I live in the same small town, we had never met. It was an honor to do so and we had a great time at the cake tasting. I remember leaving and thinking, "I hope they go with me, I hope they go with me!"
I love the design she chose and the flowers provided by Randall at the Flower Shop were fabulously exotic.
The flavor of the cake was White Butter Layers filled with Raspberry Curd and Triple Whipped Cream and iced with White Chocolate Buttercream shaded the color of terracotta.
Thank you, Tonquise and Adam for having me be part of your day.
Lucy and Keith were married at the end of November. In keeping with the season, they asked each guest bring their favorite pie to the wedding reception. It was beautiful to see all the pies on display. They even had a pie eating contest!!
Even though they love pie very much, the confided in me that they really love cake too. A couple after my heart! So we made them a small cake for the cutting ceremony. The top tier is Chocolate Sour Cream filled with Raspberry Curd and Chocolate Whipped Cream. The bottom tier is Vanilla Chiffon filled with Fresh Pumpkin Mousse. All is iced with Vanilla Buttercream.
This picture does not do justice how cute the salt and pepper shaker topper looked.
Much joy to you Lucy and Keith.
