Yes, this is exactly what it looks like, a Rice Krispy wedding cake!
Before you star rolling your eyes, read the story below :)
This cake was commissioned for Allie and Duncan's 10th wedding anniversary. They decided to throw a dance party to celebrate and did the whole thing as a farce. The guests were invited to wear their wedding clothes (I got wear my wedding dress a second time! Yeah!) and everyone got married again by an Elvis impersonator, then danced the night away, which we did.
So for the cake, Allie got the idea of doing the Rice Krispy thing and I of course needed to kick it up by filling it with White Chocolate Ganache. They found the silliest wedding topper they could and since the decor was all green and white, Voila!
We were all a bit surprised how good it was, how much fun it was to serve and everyone had some! I guess we all worked up an appetite with all that dancing.
It was great to go to a wedding type party and celebrate without the high emotion of the wedding itself. We should all do this more often.
Thank you Allie and Duncan for giving me the opportunity to bake out(side) of the box!
OK, maybe not actually bake, but you know what I mean.
Robyn is the mom of Noah who I have made Spiderman cakes for. He can't have eggs or dairy so I use my vegan recipes and the family loves it!
When it was Noah's dad's birthday around Halloween, Robyn asked if I could make a cake the whole family could eat. So I had great fun with this bat themed cake and my 5 year old declared it
SPOOKY!
Joy and Luther were married at Pippin Hill Vineyard on a stunning late October Sunday. My good friend Katherine Hannigan from Flora Bella did the flowers, all grown in her garden. These pictures do not do it justice, but the dahlias were incredible.
The cake was Vanilla Butter filled with Fresh Pumpkin Mousse and iced with Vanilla Buttercream.
The cupcakes were
Vanilla stuffed with Pumpkin Mousse and iced with Vanilla Butterceam,
Chocolate filled with Triple Cream and iced with either Chocolate or Vanilla Buttercream.
We also had some special cupcakes, some low sugar and some gluten free.
I made Bubba and Elizabeth's wedding cake and had a great time doing it! So I was very honored when she asked me to do a cake for Bubba's birthday bash at Blue Mountain Brewery. They are both musicians and Bubba is an avid fisherman. This striped bass is leaping from the water taunting him while he is distracted by his guitar and home brew. Can you tell I had a great time with this cake?
This cake ranks very high in the list of best tasting cakes I have ever made!
Citrus Chiffon Layers filled with Orange Curd Mascarpone Cream and Fresh Strawberries, iced with Grand Marnier Buttercream. Pure Strawberry Cream-sicle heaven!
If you are getting married in the mid summer and want a refreshing, evocative dreamy cake, you may want to consider the "Allison".
I confess, I made an extra cake for my family while I was making it. There was silence at the table, always a good sign. I can't wait for the next opportunity to make it.
I should mention that Allison is an accomplished pastry chef and we worked together to come up with this combination. She has beautiful vision!
Saana and Marko's textured and ribbon-ed love bird cake was Lemon Chiffon Layers filled with Triple Cream, Fresh Blueberries, Strawberries and Raspberries, iced with White Chocolate Buttercream.
Very refreshing for a hot July day.
Marko loved the "Andy" combination of Chocolate Sour Cream Layers filled with Coconut Bourbon Pecan Icing, so we did it for his groom's cake. It is my husband's favorite also!
