Red Velvet Layers filled with Cream Cheese Icing and Mascarpone Cream, iced with White Chocolate Buttercream.
I really enjoyed making this design and being part of Sarah and Nicholas's Day.
Some cakes are just pure pleasure!
I am always honored and happy to make birthday cakes for my friends children. This one was created for the eldest of a close friend whose birthday is in the height of summer when the echinacae are in full bloom and is her favorite flower. I believe this was chocolate on the inside with a raspberry buttercream.
Simple but still special.
Jess and Mark are fun, light and passionate.
And, all this came through in their cake choice and design.
White Butter Layers filled with my own Raspberry Jam and iced with White Chocolate Buttercream were adorned with simple light hearted piping, beautiful flowers and a topper that matched their passion for travel and each other.
My hubby created the circular tree cross section.
(This is the term Mark felt most accurate for the stump :)
Ruthie and Amro were one of three wedding that I was part of on the weekend of the Derecho storm that hit our area hard. This picture is a touch dark because their wedding at the Colonnade Club went on without power! It didn't stop them from celebrating. And, the cupcakes held up beautifully in the warm weather.
Their cupcake flavors were
Lemon filled with Triple Cream and iced with Raspberry Buttercream
Chocolate filled with Triple Cream and iced with Raspberry Curd Buttercream
Vanilla filled with Strawberry Jam and iced with Citrus Curd Buttercream
Beautiful dahlias were provided by Sugar Magnolia.
A wedding may be one day, but the stories last forever.
Kira and Tyler were married on his family farm the morning after the Derecho.
This wedding, I am sure, has more stories than many. I didn't have power, they didn't have power and everyone had to cross power lines lying on the ground to get there.
As a lady whose wedding was the weekend Hurricane Isabel, I understand the meaning of
"the wedding must go on"!
And it did. When I arrived to deliver, the band was setting up with generators, the tables looked gorgeous (despite having to redo everything!) and the flowers were stunning. Everyone was in a great mood despite it all and a great time was had by all. That is what I call a party.
And for dessert, they had White Butter Layers filled with Raspberry Curd and iced with White Chocolate Buttercream and decorated with cherries and tiny apricots.
I am very honored to be part of A Charlottesville Wedding Gift again this year. It is an incredible opportunity to work with many of the best wedding vendors in our area and give a couple in our community a beautiful wedding to celebrate their love and good fortune!
I will be one of 4 or 5 cake designers working on the wedding. I can't wait to see this dessert table.
Check it out! And be sure to tell anyone you know who is engaged but doesn't think the wedding of their dreams is attainable.
First off, I should admit that this is not the best picture I have of this cake.
I just can't pass the opportunity to use a picture of one of my cakes with a mulch pile in the background!
I have many passions in my life and mulch is in the top three with cakes and sheep. I just don't feel right if there is not a pile of mulch in my life. My husband is rolling his eyes in agreement.
Heidi and Randy's wedding was on their farm, next to their garden and that luscious mulch pile!
In keeping with the farm spirit, they chose Almond Layers moistened with Amaretto, filled with Local Strawberries and Triple Cream. They also loved the Raspberry Curd at their tasting so we also did the middle tier filled with it.
Flowers were from the garden of Foxy Morgan.
