Ashby chose one of my favorite cake flavors which I call the Deanne. It is a tiramisu style cake, moist and fluffy layers soaked with espresso and Kahlua, filled with a marsala mascarpone filling and iced with mocha buttercream. Whenever someone tastes this cake they scrunch their eyebrows and say, "Rachel, that's really good cake!"
When she and her groom Bryan tasted the combination at their tasting, they took one bite and knew it was the cake for them.
Some of the most beautiful settings are at peoples homes and the setting for this wedding was one of the nicest of all. Behind the home of a friend of the family, there is a bluff overlooking the Rivanna River. The breathtaking view was the backdrop for this intimate family affair. Gorgeous!!
Did I mention that all of the flowers at the wedding were irises! The cake fit right in.
Bryan was stationed on a submarine and was very handsome in his uniform. It turns out he is a big fan of peanut butter, so his grooms cake was filled yellow chiffon layers filled with chocolate ganache and peanut butter buttercream. The outside is also the same buttercream and then decorated with the diver down flags in royal icing. Yum! The guest ate lots of cake!
